Tel-Aviv / Ashdod, July 2020
Based on the successful conclusion of last year’s accelerator and the extremely positive reviews form participants as well as Maccabi management – eHealth Ventures has launched the second edition of the entrepreneurship accelerator.
This prestigious program is targeted at physicians and other healthcare professionals with innovative ideas for products / technologies within the Maccabi Health Services network. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only event in which MD’s within one of the major healthcare providers in Israel go through such a program.
This year, and despite the COVID-19 crisis, the accelerator is in collaboration with the Samson Assuta Ashdod University Hospital (the first tertiary public hospital to open in Israel over the last 30 years), with the leadership of Dr. Gil Levy, Dr. Tal Patalon and Maya Alkalai. The program is sponsored by Adama – a global leader in crop technology and the opening event included Dr. Erez Birnbaum, CEO of the Assuta Ashdod hospital and Dr. Yechiel Lasri, Mayor of Ashdod.
This class has 20 participants (in 12 teams) and the weekly sessions are in the ultra-modern setting of the Assuta hospital. The participants attend 3-months of lectures with some of the leading opinion leaders in the field – academics, entrepreneurs, service providers and financial experts. Every team of entrepreneurs was coupled with a highly experienced mentor (all pro bono, and we are thankful to all), who assists in building and developing their idea for new products and technologies in the digital health space.
Following graduation, the teams will present the graduate companies to Maccabi management and the eHealth Ventures, and a winner will be considered as a candidate for an investor by the incubator.
The eHealth Ventures team partnered with Dr. Kobi Inbar to run the program as academic director, in collaboration with Dr. Joseph Rosenblum of eHV and a skilled group of speakers and mentors:
